Inspired by Golden Week — a week-long celebration of several holidays in Japan that occur in late April to early May — our community will gather for several reasons: remembrance, resilience, reconnecting, gratitude and hope.
The event will also celebrate:
- Guest speaker: Dr. Raymund Tanaka
- Music by Ken Koshio
- Museum Exhibit: Rebuilding Home Plate (Legacy of Japanese American Baseball)
- Gold Saguaro Tribute Award recipients – TBA
- Scholarship recipients – TBA
- Essay-challenge winners – Joshua Tominaga, Dylon Hill, Brian Ames, Noah Ames
- Food by Tohzan Nagasaki Grill (Bento boxes: $5.00 for JACL members and $10.00 non-members – cash or check, pay at the door)
Doors open at 12:30pm to view the museum exhibits.

Golden Week Celebration Keynote Speaker: Dr. Raymund Tanaka
Dr. Raymund Tanaka is in private practice in Glendale, Arizona with his wife, Cynthia. Together they have developed a dental practice focusing on the care of the whole person. His post doctoral studies include the LD Pankey Institute, Kois Center and the Pride Institute where he developed his philosophy of a patient centered practice. He is currently a Fellow of theAcademy of General Dentistry, Arizona Section Chair of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and in 2016 he and his wife were bestowed the Creighton University School of Dentistry Alumni Merit Award. He currently is on Creighton Universities Dental and National Alumni Advisory Boards.
